Wilkes Walk
We leave from All Saints, usually lead by the Town Crier, Vicar and someone carrying pole bearing a floral display, then the choir, chairman and trustees, and lay procession.
Prayers are said at various stops along the way including market cross, as the event is tied in with Rogation Sunday when the church remembers different parts of the community (industry, farming, schools etc).
We have in the past had a police escort who halt traffic for the procession to cross West Street etc. The main ceremony then takes place with singing and the upside down choir boy/girl and the Chairman’s reading of the section of the will before returning to Church.
